After almost 12 painstaking hours, Deck 2 is fully functional. The deck was disabled and was bypassed when received, but knew that when purchasing. She arrived in 2 large boxes sent priority mail to Canada, grand total for shipping was $260 plus the unit o_0 ..
On to the repair: one arm for the cassette door was found to be missing, the play ff rew or any other buttons would not lock in place. After careful examination there was a spring missing that had 2 functions; to lock the buttons in position, and the same spring also returned the eject mechanism. After finding the problem it was obvious the door arm was broken in an attempt to open it after the spring had fallen off. The spring was non existent inside the unit , so parts boxes came into play- manged to fashion a spring that would operate both the key lock and the eject mechanism, and fashioned a new door arm from a similar unit-. After some tweaking of cassette speeds, the final product came to light , restored to it`s complete glory.
This unit sounds like a house stereo and weighs as much as one, peaking the scale at 49.6 pounds! The bass and overall tonal characteristics are wonderful, as is the appearance of this rare bird. She is very happy amongst her newfound friends :-)

Attached a video for those who might be interested in seeing the operation of the unit :-D

Yes, from TMR (Shawn) he did a fantastic job on those speakers, without a doubt , perfectly matched with crossovers , I believe they are Polk Audio .. each speaker box weighs 18 pounds :hmmm:

Even supplied an additional PC Board Power Amplifier , just in case :-)

Next project, a Fisher PH-490 with a totally dead deck- no motor sound when activated :-/ but am up for the challenge

Then to the JVC 100 , walkman needs a belt, 4000 screws in those suckers! Plan to use the walkman part at work, it gets alot of attention, changing out cassettes really gets people`s attention! :w00t: ;-)

Other recent projects, JVC M90 , Left channel was dead, cassette non working, now all 100% ; JVC DC-33 , turntable did not slide in and out was dislodged, cassette also did not work, bought from a member here , repaired and working, RV-DP100 , dead cassette , volume going backwards, fixed er up kid is loving the built in beatbox, the wife, however, isn`t ! :w00t:

Very nice, great work with the spring. ;-)

I have to say that every box I've ever bought from this member came completely refurbushed. Listening to my daily driver right now, a PQR-9850 that I've been pounding for over two years now since he worked her over... :-D

Love the new siggy.
