Per Johnnys request here are some photos I took of the GX-300H last night. (Yes the pics aren't my best work but at 11:00at night who cares?
)
Now here is where it get wierd. Look at the speaker power handling...
And what the output rating is...
Now I have put this thing on the bench. It puts out a helluva lot more than what it claims. Try around 30w RMS per channel. Don't ask me why, I don't know. Maybe thats why this mofo eats 120w of juice making Alabama Power one happy ass utility company. But...I do like "sleepers".
Check out the heatsink. The big grille in the back and grilles on the top do their best to keep everything cool. But she does get warm with that BTL amp in there.
The connections are Euro DIN standard.
Of course here is the afforementioned crossover network.
And notice the chunky MDF board for the speaker cabinet...
RimTim wanted to know how to take the speakers out. See below...
Carefully remove the tweeter trim housing using a light back and forth motion while pulling upward. If you want, there are two slots on the underside of trim piece to help pry it off with a small screwdriver but you shouldn't need to (or want to)...
Flip the speaker onto it's face. Be careful to not push down as you could dent the woofer grille. A pillow is handy here. Then remove the four screws holding the crossover assembly and speaker lead. Pull assembly up and forward. Be very careful to not damage the crossover...
Inside at the bottom you will find two more screws. You will need a long shaft screwdriver to do this. Magnetized tip will help tons here...
Carefully flip the speaker back over and pull cover off. Thats it! Unscrew speakers and remove connectors.
