Per Johnnys request here are some photos I took of the GX-300H last night. (Yes the pics aren't my best work but at 11:00at night who cares? )

Now here is where it get wierd. Look at the speaker power handling... :hmmm:

And what the output rating is... :hmmm:

Now I have put this thing on the bench. It puts out a helluva lot more than what it claims. Try around 30w RMS per channel. Don't ask me why, I don't know. Maybe thats why this mofo eats 120w of juice making Alabama Power one happy ass utility company. But...I do like "sleepers".

Check out the heatsink. The big grille in the back and grilles on the top do their best to keep everything cool. But she does get warm with that BTL amp in there. :-D

The connections are Euro DIN standard. :-)

Of course here is the afforementioned crossover network. And notice the chunky MDF board for the speaker cabinet...

RimTim wanted to know how to take the speakers out. See below...

Carefully remove the tweeter trim housing using a light back and forth motion while pulling upward. If you want, there are two slots on the underside of trim piece to help pry it off with a small screwdriver but you shouldn't need to (or want to)...

Flip the speaker onto it's face. Be careful to not push down as you could dent the woofer grille. A pillow is handy here. Then remove the four screws holding the crossover assembly and speaker lead. Pull assembly up and forward. Be very careful to not damage the crossover...

Inside at the bottom you will find two more screws. You will need a long shaft screwdriver to do this. Magnetized tip will help tons here...

Carefully flip the speaker back over and pull cover off. Thats it! Unscrew speakers and remove connectors.

Glad you like it Johnny. My wife was skeptical at first when I got it but after a run through the BASSment Lab, the Sharp is good to go. And my wife was the one who chose it's sound (with the EQ set just right) over the Telefunken HiFi Studio 1. (She still says the 'Funken is prettier. And I'll give it that.) :-D

Hey! I just downloaded the data sheet on the amp chip in the GX-300H! It is a Sanyo STK430 III. It requires 31v and puts out 25w RMS nominal per channel. If it were to run at the max voltage (50v) it would do 34w. If it ran at a 2 ohm load which it can, wooooweeeee!!!!!!....(But very hot and would need a serious heatsink. )

Whoa, that's some serious power for a boombox. Looks like the amp was overbuilt in this box, I think it could beat a Coby.

the gx300 has a meaty amp in there alot of stack systems used to use virtually the same amp but in pairs. imho i'ts just the speakers that let it down, im gunna dig mine out tomorrow i just pray the deck works because i hav'nt used it in atleast 2 years.

However...like the Telefunken, Sony FH's, M-90, C-100F, PC-55 and all the other powerhouses on line voltage....

On batteries...a reality check...

13.5-15v DC(Batteries)....At peak battery performance, 10w per channel. Average 7w. :-/

so i could try other speakers on it right :w00t: that may tell me if the amp is ok, i can't remember what terminals are on the end of the speakers.

that box looks pretty serious inside, I wonder how much power the Sharp HK9000 consumed? i know it was loud, Freddie don't you have one?
