Hi All,

Just joined Boomboxery and recently purchased a Sharp GF9191 from Ebay, It was listed as full working order however, on arrival I noted the following :

1. Stereo light not coming on when stereo achieved.
2. Replacement aeriels but the left one attached with the wrong screw and so becomes loose and flops down.

Does anyone know of any quick fixes for the above, is still possible to get the original aerials or can someone recommend better replacements, I noted that someone had tried to use some sort of washer either side of the of the aerial attachment but this hasn't helped.

I already own a Sharp GF575, GF5454 and a Hitachi TRK 8190E and when you switch the radio on these guys it picks up immediately without even extending the aerials but with the sharp GF9191 it sort of remains dead until one is extended. Is this common for this model.

Any help or advice would be grately appreciated.

You can try taking it apart and turning the pot located next to the stereo chip. I've owned 2 of those boxes, and both had problems with the stereo mode switch, and right/left channel balance.

The aerial does have two brass thin wahser either side - some times you need three - it all depend on the set up and if another has been used to replace it - thewider the gap the more it will flop down ;-)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replys, much appreciated, :-) I got to admit I am amazed by the sound quality of the GF9191 it does leave the others standing in this depart especially the GF 575 which seems very bass shy. But I noticed that there are two versions of the GF575 one with "black facia" and the other is your silver facia. When I looked over the controls the "black facia" and noticed it has a "loudness switch" as apposed to the "dolby switch" on the silver version, does that mean its louder and more bassey. :hmmm:

Once again, thanks for the replys,

If you think the 9191 sounds good, you should get a Universum 16000, they sell for one-third what a 9191 sells for, yet easily blows it away in sound quality.

Of course, it doesn't look nearly as good
