Hi
I've picked up one of these beasts in general working condition.

There are many years of dust to clean and I'm not very impressed with the sound quality.

Anyway before I pull it apart, what are the general items that need replacing?

Belts, pinch rollers and idler tyres? Anything else having on hand?

Regards

Use Deoxit Faderlube on pots and see if it works well to clean and lubricate it. Opening the pots, taking it all apart and cleaning is not an easy task. Its time consuming and needs lots of patience.

The resto has gone well.....everything cleaned, belts an tyres replaced......just waiting on some new rollers, one deck is fine but the other is eating tapes.

Sounds much better than expected. Not sure if I'll keep it as I have 2 FH7's that are just awesome and there are too many other audio pieces in the house!

I've surprised myself and hung used it far more than I thought I would. Once it was all back together and everything connected, the sound is pretty good.

However, it has to go soon. I see people asking huge prices but what would be a fair number for a restored and cleaned up unit. A few scratches but no mah=jor cosmetic issues?
