I have now tried to restore the Sharp GF 9696 how do you like it
I have managed or not :-( the speakers are from a GF9494
unfortunately, these spots have but I think that the gf969 without mesh covers means better looks, antennae this boombox has now also get
but I still lack a battery flap and front 2 plastic mounts
the upper cover has also been replaced and comes from gf 9494
the original has very little color ;-)

nice try jens, with such a high end box id have tried to hold out for a pair of original gf9696 woofers for the look, but, somehow i reckon the 9494 woofers might actually sound marginlly better anyway? :hmmm:

yes I am also curious, I have yet heard that the gf 9696 should not sound so good?

Hello... brand new here to the Boomboxery... (this is my first post) i finally found my own machine at a garage sale... here in Oshawa Ontario Canada... the Sharp GF 9696.
it's in fair condition, but i not savy about fixin it up like you guys are on this board. All i've done is take the back/front off and cleaned the 'pots' with some electrical contact cleaner... smooth, non-crackly knobs for me. I can't tell you how much i am in love with this thing... nor have stopped googling future quests since i picked this up a few weeks ago. really liking the 9191...
No line in though on this 9696, just phono... thinkin this might be my first mod... but maybe i should just take this to someone who knows what they are doing.
Can anyone recommend a pro-hobbiest in my neck of the woods i can connect with and talk shop?
Great site everyone... been readin lots on here... so friggen awesome.
Thank you!
