Sharp GF-9500 Belts and Tape Deck

Hi Guys,

So my collection is increasing, including this Sharp GF-9500 I have picked up. Very nice aesthetically.. but few issues such as FM not working, Play belt - but Aesthetically its all good.

I don't know why, but I cannot seem to get a tape into this. It has a spring mechanism, but the tape either gets jammed or if I get it in, it is angled.. Don't know if it has some special trick or somethings broken. See pics below.

I am wondering, what belts do I need for this? I haven't cracked it open yet, but am about to do an order for a few other boxes and can't find the belt size I need. The FF & RW belt seems fine, but play is nothing.

You have a logic deck. That means two things at least...

1. You have a broken belt or gear, which upon failure, did not completely turn the gears to release the lock holding it in play, keeping the head and capstan roller up.

2. You have a bad contact which isn't transmitting the signal to the motor to turn and release the mechanism.

Either way, you don't want to force the cassette in there or force the head down. If you can rotate the flywheel, and the gear is good, you will likely release the head assembly into the down position.

The deck looks like it needs some love though and you can get plenty of help here on the site.
