Hi everyone. My name is Tom and I’m a new member. The sharp GF 9494 which I bought on marketplace is mostly fine. All the switches are silent, the radio works brilliantly. But as ever it’s the cassette function which is faulty. My repairer has replaced all of the normal stuff, the pinch roller, the belts, the take up idler, the little rubber hose on the take up idler drive. So cassettes play but the music sounds a bit like it’s underwater, a slight wow but not one caused by the pinchroller or the belts or the tension. He discovered that it has a replacement Chinese motor inside that is getting very hot. He wants me to try and source the correct motor for it. He says that it is probably a Sankyo, but it’s not known which one.
So basically my questions are:
1) does anyone know which motor this would have had originally and whether replacements of the same type or ever available?
2) which other shop products might use the same motor, which might enable me to find a cheap working one and salvage the motor (I know this is sontimes frowned upon so I would look for a very tatty one).
It’s a shame, because it’s an amazing machine and it would be so great to have the cassette sounding as good as possible. Thanks very much.
