Found this one cheap on the internet.
Unfortunately when it turned up it was in a pretty bad shape.
The packing was terrible with almost no protection, I'm surprised there wasn't worse damage! Aerials broken, broken screw posts, rusted grills, a massive cigarette burn on the top. Also grime and paint spots all over it. 'A little dusty' the seller said! Anyway I'd done a GF-508 which was pretty bad last year which came out well so we'll see how far I can go with it with that I have.

Nice Rudey, the GF9191 are a cracking box, i have been looking out for one but have you seen how much the price has increased over the last year or two? Well worth a resto, keep us up to date on progress

Dear me, a classic case of a seller being economical with the truth about real condition and totally careless with shipping to boot. On the brighter side, it's a good thing this BB is now out of the hands of the seller but I can see you certainly have your work cut out for you. I wish you well with the resto.

Nice, the 9292 is rare! So good looking the way its chrome rings are detented with multiple bevels that catch the light.

The speakers, the dust caps and the rings really make this model 'pop'

Mad that someone ships it with the weight of rusty batteries still in there. I love my 9191 so I'd love a 9292 too. I'm sure it'll scrub up :-)

Looks like you've got your work cut out for you. Crappy deal that the seller was less than forthright with the description, whatta turd! Looks like it found a great home with you though. I have no doubt that you'll make her rock again. Looking forward to seeing the results of your expertise.

Here is where I am at the moment. Got rid of all the paint spots and repaired the busted screw posts. Cleaned up painted speakers and the grilles got rubbed down and sprayed. It plays a little unevenly on one channel but sounds strong overall. I'm ordering some bits off Geoff like a missing toggle switch, some aerials and a service kit.
The Chrome rot is a bit of a nightmare by the tuner window so might spray the whole box in the spring. It's all about the big dust caps and speaker rings on this model so I think it kind of pops again now.

Super job Rudey!

Hope you were able to clean the top panel. If not it comes on Ebay often. I checked and found none.

It looks so good now. I also keep boxes in transparent plastic not to cover dust and debris in a climate controlled environment.

GFs are all great treasures for the collection.

The top panel is not too bad. The cigarette burn is a bummer and the rot around the tuner window. It's never going to be a mint box but I'll get it as good as I can and may end up being a good carry around box for outdoors. I've got a dispute open with the seller because her description was so bad and her packing piss poor! I'm hoping to get a partial refund or something.

Those dust bags are from my dr cleaner that I pester him for. I got the idea off Member Patron (Driptip/Hugo).

Love these especially the led's as opposed to needle VU's :-)

Spare parts do come along for these & they are very satisfying to work on!!

Fag burn such a shame - Who would place a burning fag on any stereo?? Probably bottles/cans involved :-D

I would of bought it had it just been 'A bit dusty' & would of been gutted with the damage :bang:

Love those woofers they look lush now!!

Thank you for your comments. There's a bit more I can possibly do but we'll see what bits I can get for it. The battery compartment is still a mess and I fancied using this one outdoors.
