Sharp GF-8989

Been looking for cheap 8989 for a while, scored this from Ebay for a tenner no postage as it was local to me and pickup was an option, here's the picture from the listing not surprising no one else bid on it, looks like a piece of junk, but I thought it might clean up.

This is probably the most dirty box I have ever bought, it was filthy, before I started cleaning it I tried it out to my surprise it was fully working with no issues. Got this on Tuesday and just finished cleanig it inside and out.
Hard to believe this is the same box but it is really, underneath the filth it's actually very nice.
So here it is!!!

Great cleanup, it looks almost new!!!!!

It's great when no one wants to touch it coz it looks like too much work and you pick it up for a song

Yeah, some my nicest boxes were the dirtiest ones, I quess it protects them.

Thanks for all the nice comments, it took a lot of cleaning and I was very lucky that underneath all the dirt it was still in nice condition, especially all the brightwork whicn often suffers, it does have some wear and scratches but not much.
So I'm very happy with it , took a chance on a box that looked to have the potential to turn out nice, and it did.

8989's are the best mid size early 80s boxes available-ive just swapped my d8734 for my 3rd 8989-and cheap as chips-the guy i got her off only paid 20 quid for it from cash converters and its near mint and fully working!
