Sharp GF 777 - 767 Steaming Music - Stereo Sound

Hi All
Recently upgraded - rebuilt my boxes above. All work well, tapes and radio great sound but when steaming music by wireless receiver through line ins -or connecting iPhone etc via 3.5mm jacks into line ins sound is only in mono. All connections are super clean and connections on board good.

A friend tells me that i won't get stereo sound as files are compressed and will not play correctly the way i am doing it.
Is there any way you can stream or connect through line ins to get quality sound ??

iPhone output is stereo. MP3 is stereo. Line in is stereo. No reason it shouldn’t be stereo when it comes out the other end

Test the headphone jack by playing anything which starts off on one channel and goes to another. If it does then check your cable you are using to transfer your music. There should be 2 colored rings around the male headphone jack versus 1. They do sell and make mono versions. The next thing to check is your settings. Often times when adding music to digital media you can select for it to be recorded in mono or stereo in settings.

All of these or a combination of these will prevent you from recording into stereo.

Hi, thanks for reply, sound just hasn't got that punch like it should unlike when radio or cassette are playing.
No stereo light on front illuminated, not sure if it should when playing from iPhone or steaming.
Driving me nuts

Stereo LED is only for FM reception.
To make good test you must play some songs with stereo effect,

Try listening to some early Beatles like the Rubber Soul album, they tend to have the vocals only coming from the right hand channel, should be obvious if its coming out stereo or not, also use headphones on your boombox.
