I had a Hitachi as a kid but I can't quite remember what it looked like. I'm thinking this might be the one. It was all silver like this and the speaker grills were also silver, and they were plastic grids that if you looked close, they looked like they were made of woven wire, but they were plastic and molded to look that way. So I've been on a quest to see of I can find one that jars my memory, and so far this one has come the closest.

Have you still got the Hitachi one? I just got one off a flea market, but trying to get new belts. Any suggestions?

Look at Revox.de on eBay for belt kits tailored to specific sets, or at Malvern Audio on eBay for belt kits in both flat and square assortments that cover most of the common sizes.
Both thae sources are reliable and supply only good quality rubbers. There are also a couple of decent sources from the USA but they're expensive by the time you take into account the VAT on imported rubber goods, though if you don't find what you need within Europe or the UK, these are worth considering too because their quality is just as good.
