Sharp 777 - slight sound issue

Howdy partners

I have a slight issue with my GF-777 - the right speakers seem to play louder than the left ones, and when I look at the VU meters - sure enough - the left one is barely moving, while the right one is rocking all the way to the right. I know the sol[tion - contact cleaner, but what exactly should I spray?? Thanks in advance!

I sprayed the function switch - the left VU meter seems to be doing a little better. From my previous experience with Sharps - namely Sharp GF-9696 - one should drown it in contact cleaner - I'll spray some more tomorrow

My GF777 is in a right old state.
One woofer plays quieter than the other, the VUs are way out of calibration, & the tape fader knob has a life of it's own. These problems I hope will improve when I have it to bits & clean everything up. Also, new belts are needed & idler wheels need a clean too.
Ah well, it was cheap!

Hey Iso, last year when Freddie came up to visit, we discovered that my left Super Woofer was not putting out as much bass as the right one. I removed the boost knob covering and sprayed the pot good with some DeOxit and worked the pot back and forth a few times really good. My bass came back! Hopefully, that's all you'll need to fix that part of yours.

Hey Hugo, I was referring to the pots for the Super Woofers. Remove the knob/pot covers and spray the shaft with DeOxit near where it goes into the actual pot. Work 'em real good and that should help clear up your problem. It took a couple of tries for me.

there are no boost knobs on the 767, but i had a similar prob with my 767 and contact cleaner worked, just sprayed it in the vol, bass, treb, and balance pots, took 4 attempts

Ah hah! You are correct, Geoff! I forgot about that. Patron, skip my advice and go with Geoff's.

It seems the vast majority of these kinds of problems are good honest dusty/dirty switches/pots and usually easily correctible - I've had issues like this and still have a couple of boxes that need the contact cleaner treatment

At least I hope that's all they need

HI, my 777 also has the same problem sometimes, .im excited about cleaning the pots and pans. most recently, my 777 has had some bad distortion. it fell on its back, and now ever since there is distortion in the phono inputs, whenever i plug a signal to them theres a strong current of distortion...!. i use the phono because my line sockets are almost dead with hardly any volume to them!
i use the 777 for DJ purposes, its hooked up with an xlr to rca cable that plugs from my mixer and turntables to the phono input of the sharp 777.. the 777 has new dayton tweeters and mids, so highs dont get overpowered by the superwoofers! anyways, to get rid of the distortion from in my phono sockets whenever theyre plugged into my my rane mixer or an ipod, i decided to change the phono rca sockets. just last night i ordered on ebay the WBT-0210Cu nextgen RCA Socket Signature Pure Copper. this upgrade costed my 110 dollars! apparently these are the newest model of rca sockets, and should be totally distortion free. when i install them, ill have to mount and soldier them. i shouldnt have any problems mounting these new sockets into the the back of the chassis, right..... ?
