There is now a cassette that fits into the deck, and is full bluetooth compatible with excellent sound reproduction using the deck heads- similar to the one with a stereo tether jack that you could plug your external mp3 player or phone.Totally wireless. Search it on Amazon. Why not choose which blaster you want to be bluetoothed on any day? Genius.

The ION bluetooth cassette doesn't last very long. I have used one in my car (1995 Mercedes E320 with factory stereo) for many years.

I recently bought a 1991 Mercedes 250TD (station wagon. diesel. 5 speed.) and the radio in it was atrocious. I wanted to get something in there but nothing that looked like a disco from the future. In that one I installed a VDO/ Continental TR7412

Looks period correct. Has bluetooth.

Technology has changed , the ION was inception.

Bluetooth 5.0 "【 Extra-Long Play Time 】 Built-in battery provides up to 8 hours’ play time, 168 hours’ standby time, only takes 1.5 hours to fully charge it.Premium Chip supply more stable and faster transmission with less power consumption, which can represent a superior audio performance to spoil your ear and never feeling boring while driving. "

What I like about this one, is no tether like most others.

It looks like they've been around for a while but I never knew about them, good option.
I've had the wired ones in the past but the wire doesn't easily fit through some of the player's doors.
Thanks for calling it out.

I use this adapter. I got two, use one charge on... Nice if l want to crank some music that I not yet put on tape. I got no plan of bluetooth mod 25+ boomboxes! I allso run two FM transmitters, one connected to an DAB+ radio (FM brodcast is terminated in Norway) and one connected to rec out on one of my hifi setup. Nice if I want to run a group of boxes

The one in the picture is a Hitachi TRK-8180E. Not a rare box, but I really like the old Hitachi boxes and this one is "box fresh, never used" condition :-)
