So I found this Sears SR 2100 Series BoomBox at a thrift store a few days ago, and what a find it was! I have to admit, the sound is excellent. It does not have any gauges on sound controls, so I am assuming it was not a 'top of the line' boombox for it's time. The sound on it seems to carry for miles, however. As for the tape deck, it works. The sound is rather muffled. I wonder if a new belt could fix this problem??

:morepics: there were numerous boxes from Sears that carried the SR2100 model number.
Congrats, it's always a great find if you like it.

A "muffled" tape deck could be any number of things. I would try cleaning the tape path first and demagnetizing. If the head has an adjustment screw, you can try to adjust the azimuth / alignment and that might clear things up.
