Nice score, these are kind of hard to pass up in decent shape for under $100.

Thanks! Yeah, the buttons alone are worth a ton, I sold some for $45 on ebay and shipped them out for $10 so they are probably worth more than the box

All cheapness and jokes aside I still like the 931.

Cheapness and Jokes

You haven't been around here or S2G long have you?

There are those that like to point out a fairly that the Lasonics and many other black boxes are low quality, delicate and problematic. They do have their weaknesses, don't turn that tuner band selector to much or with any force or you'll find the 931 becomes a one band radio real quick.

;-) I have an affinity for Lasonics

I love them and they love me! They aren't as bad as people always say.And they definitely break boundaries with style

My Lasonic 931 did the same thing (Tuner Selector switch). Cheap as it was, I had so much fun and great memories with it. ;-)

[I take great care of my boxes and the switch is set to fm, and I don't flip it to any other ;-)

If anything happens to my mint 931 you can bet this will be the donor, but I will be adding a new handle to this one from a reissue, and maybe a carrying strap  Not some cheap one, but like those wide straps from the 3 speaker hitachis : or the yellow magnavoxes

Nice!

Yet another box saved! YAAAAAY!!!!!!!

It's also an original '80s one as well! Not one of the re-makes.

The question has to be asked though, about the "bars-across-the-speakers" thing...........

Who were at it first? Sharp and the GF-9000, or.......

Lasonic, and the TRC-931 / 975 etc, and any other Lasonics with speaker bars?

Who did it first?

Was that 931 the one with the warped handle on Ebay?

As far as quality, there is no comaprison with say a JVC M70. But the 931 blows it away in shear loudness and bass. I think it looks cooler too.

Now it has a handle, took the one from my 975 :-/ But it was well worth it! I was afraid ahen I picked it up because the case came loose but after opening it up I found it was missing 3 screws, which I replaced and now it is like a rock :-D

Everything works on her, but the tape only plays on the right speaker, not really worried for $58
