One of these is coming into my posession but looking around on the internet I can't seem to find much information.

Does anyone know anything about this walkman?

Yes, it's a later version of the glorious M-G1from 1982. I think also that this could be the Asian version as the Gal units never came to the west. It's a nice find and a great design. This was Sanyo's attempt to rival the Sony WM-2 but sadly it was too late to be competative despite being half the price and actually sounding better.
