A long-time downer for this great sounding box is the fact that if you want to do line-in of anything ... you can only do it with the tape in record mode - so you do that and press pause and off you go with the motor running in the background wearing itself out. Not so great.
There looks to be a modification you can do on the board, but some commenters on the YT video beg to differ.
So i thought all we need is to add a switch in the motor cabling to turn it off. I had a look at the schematic: THAT'S WHAT THE (mic) REMOTE SOCKET DOES !!
All you need then is a 2.5mm 'micro' jack plug - pop it in and the motor turns off in record mode.
Line-in heaven is all yours.

This trick also works on the National Panasonic RS4300. And probably others with that remote mic switch functionality fashionable during the late 70s.
