Meters work, got the tapedeck working, but it creates a terrible low noise when play is pressed, like a hum... IC's leaking!? Will find out later, allready have thee boxes laying around to be fixed... :'-(

Got a 8585 with a lot of bodywork, a D8444 with a deck issue and a D8614 with bodywork and a deck speed issue...
It's beginning to look like a job..... :-/

Congratulations! I have this box in the 104 MHz GDR Version. I had this humming, too. After an inside cleaning including the heads and the drive mechanics it was gone. Sometimes the humming is generated by weak condensers. You can buy new belts in german ebay, searching for sanyo m4500ke - should be the same drive. But it's a terrible work to free the drive from the rest of the box.

Have fun and ask if you have questions or need small parts, I slaughtered one device, but antenna and drive are sold.

regards, Marco

Thanks Marco  I will keep that in mind!! It will need a proper inside cleaning... All switches sound like they' ve been in sand :-D

Nice box. I picked up a Sanyo 4500 (silver front) last year and was very impressed with the sound of this model. I do wish it had Bass and Treble controls but for a 9V box, it performs great and the old school, 70s build and those big VU meters are worth the cost of admission on their own!!
I actually prefer the front look of your all black version but prefer the chrome control knobs/switches of the silver model.

Pity the 'Line In' requires the deck to be recording for operation though. It's weird that the switches on mine all work perfectly and didn't require cleaning. :hmmm:

Have fun with the re-belt. ;-)

As for the switches - it`s a well known "feature" of this series - you have to clean them inside. A lot of work but a least a nice boombox with good sound.
