Hello friends.

I recently scored a Sanyo M-820K in rough condition. Despite the bad condition, nothing was missing, no cracks or broken parts.

I did some test and this is how the box is working:

- Radio and Phono functions work
- Tape and line -in does not work.
- Both speakers work . sound comes out at normal listening level but Can not be adjusted.
- Both balance and volume knobs has no effect on the Volume out. Treble and Bass knobs work normally.

I noticed that there're three functions beside the Function Switch: Phono/Radio/Cassette. NO Line in listed.

So I have a question need you guys, who ever own this model or know about it:

- How is the LINE IN supposed to used on this model? Just hook up the RCA to the Line In ports then switch to PHONO mode and play music; or we have to switch to TAPE mode and then press Record button as like in some old 70's boxes?

Thank you very much!

Here're few pics:

Thank you all for congratulating. I bought it from a scrap dealer, who did sold me some boxes before, like my National RS-4250, RX-5600.

This box sound really good on Phono (2 RCA ports) with volume on my phone turned extremely low. I know that's not the right way to use this Phono function but I can't find a Line to Phono Attenuator to buy so I'm looking for help to make use of the Line in function.

Thank you. It's very rare and sexy boombox indeed, but maybe I still prefer the look of that National 5700 or 7000 over it.

I would try the microphone inputs I use this on several of my boxes and have no problems .

You can use one of these on the phono ports with your phone and it will smooth the sound out.
If not then send the box to my house asap. 😎

I search all over my local store or internet but couldn't find one of this device. Maybe I'll send the box to your home soon :bang: :-)

My hobby mate think that's the only way to use this Line In, only for tape recording, there were no CDs in the 70s - beg. of 80s yet
hence no need for the Line In with a separate switch position.

Dear me, I like that BB and the wood grain (effect?) is so gorgeous.

Is this box as heavy as it looks?

Yes, I'm going to think so too.

The wood grain is just plastic with wood texture.
That box is actually quite well built and heavy. It weigh about 9,5kg I guess.
