First off,I can't get it open. It all works well but needs a belt and pots cleaned. Plus some "MrClean MagicEraser" detailing.(those things work!!)
I see that the c-door pops off,but something is sticking in there. I've made mistakes before and am lucky to have access to the Boomboxery crew's wealth of knowledge.
If anyone has any tips on giving this baby a tune-up,please advise me before I do something wrong.Haha.
I saw the recent belts forum but she's not on the roster. Thanx

I never had restored a 650 but like most Sanyos I think it takes some wiggling to get cassette mech released from front case. Don't take my word just ask Joe or Scott as I know they had one for sure 😉

It seems like the tape buttons are holding it together now,but they dont pull off like the pot knobs. I'm afraid to detach something inside without seeing where it came from.

Oh man! I can't believe that I can't get this thing open. It really seems like I'm about the wreck the tape deck. These keys wont push through or pop off.

Aha! Some dummy used a long wood screw in a wrong hole. Obviously decades ago.
I'm in!
Anyone know the belt sizes?

Ok. A bit of cleaning, deox, and grill paint.
It looks alot better but has minor problems.
Needs play belt and the dolby switch is touchy.
But it sounds good and it's gonna get used.
I'm stoked on it!

If anyone knows the belts for this one, please let me know.

Ah, that's better - what an improvement to behold! This didn't look like anything too special in the first pic but you've a real beauty on your hands now.

Yup. The cracks were right on a seam. So almost unnoticeable. And the bad shipper paid for epoxy and an hour of my time.It all worked out ok.
