Hi,

I have one of these great Sanyo's, with it's documentation and original sales receipt, from 1983... My Mum passed it on to me, it's in great condition apart form being a cassette tape eater... Does anyone have a link to a step by step teardown to clean/ service/ re-belt one of these? And maybe a PDF service manual, and circuit diagrams?

I'd like to get it working as well as it did back in '83, but don't know where to start, so any help would be appreciated!

:hi: I have a M W25L which I recently re-belted and I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unless you have done this sort of repair before then you perhaps should not even try, this is a very difficult box to re-belt. Picture below shows shows what you have to get through and this is still a long from when you can remove the decks to re-belt.

Don't wanna put you of but this really isn't a first time re-belt box :nonono:
But if you do decide to try good luck.

Thanks for the warning.

I think it's something I'll have to do for myself, cos I don't think anyone will do it for me! I belong to a hackspace type thing, and there are people there who have years of experience at this kind of thing, but no time. I used to bench service TV's (long ago, mind), I've built cnc stuff and engines, etc and have tools coming out of my ears... I should be able to do this, (famous last words, I know) if I video it all and talk myself through it in stages, tag all the wires, box all the screws, etc etc.

It's more a matter of what to do to service it properly. Is it possible to just eyeball it, as far as mechanical wear and tear are concerned? I might try youtube for a refresher on what component does what in a tape deck... any suggestions for good educational materials? I'm only guessing it eats tapes because the belts are slipping/ sticking/ knackered; it may be gummed up with 28 year old hair spray or something! I'd like to be able to feel that I have some knowledge before I get the tools out and suddenly find I don't understand what I'm looking at.
