Heya again bros' and sis'

This is my Boombox #10           and...

I'm very happy that it's a Sanyo M-GT7 "Dust and Splash Proof" Stereo Radio Cassette Recorder! (outta breath)

My 3rd free one too!
This time it came from a very nice guy who has a tiny kinda-sorta 7-Eleven store almost nextdoor to where I live.
Just asked him if he knew anybody who had a boombox to let me know and he said "well, uhm... I do!" and the rest is history...

Let me inform you that:
- Ok, so it's dust proof... yeah right... What it didn't say is that it's "Cockroach Egg Proof" I learned that as soon as I opened it.
- Also, this model doesn't come with any connection in the back for the AC cord, only batteries and an AC adaptor plug on the side (which btw, I just got done soldering on a brand new one)
- It's got a security latch thingy to let the tape door open, it's funkae...
- The speaker grills are very easy to remove, just twist and voilá!

Bummers:
- Didn't come with the rubber fitting for the top buttons (so for now, no splashing please)
- Practically gotta do a balancing act with the antenna for it to stay put, the holding screw is screwed...
- Doesn't have the rubber fitting for the Radio Band Selector switch either (I said no splashing please)
- It only needs a little gear part to the tape counter inside for it to work.
- Finally, it's got a hole, yes a hole, in the back panel, that some "Coby-head" made I don't know for what reason... now I gotta see how to fix it!

Please let me know where I can get one of those rubber covers for the buttons up top so I can take it to the pool!!!

Here are the pics... and have yourself a Merry Little Christmas too!!! :santa:

There's that hole I was talkin' about... :nonono:

Still gotta get the rubber fitting for these buttons...

Also for all these buttons need the rubber splash protector whachamacallit... any ideas?

It has this strānj white stain that I couldn't get off... seems they cleaned it with Windex or something... can't take it off...

It's got a nice touch of black rubber on the sides too!

Wohoo, great score!
Love those outdoor boxes.
They are quiet rare.

The only one i got is this TEC:

It also eats only batteries or AC over adaptor.

btw: are your gum-covers of the buttons missing? :'-(

Yeah Vienna, the gum-covers are not present in the cassette section... :'-(

Hey looks like they used the same exact mold to make your speaker grills huh?

The speaker grills are looking very similar.

by the way Stranj,

try to take the stain out / make it softer,

by polishing it soflty,

if it is embeded in the plastic.

if you see it will come off,

try to softly remove with a cloth.

but dont overdoit, as i often do,

check first if it comes out or comes out better , if it doesnt,

dont do it. just clean it.

I tried to clean it but nothing happens, it's definitely embedded in the plastic bro... shiat... thanks for the tip anyway!

sb --its not ONE complete// continuous rubber cover --
instead --its individual covers for EACH button -

and each cover has a factory print on it..

so --yes - you will need to find a parts box to get them all

Wow... didn't know since I've never seen one taken apart... but are you 100% sure? I ask since this mini is meant to be water-resistant I would think that if each button has a separate rubber cover the water splish-splashes would get in right? :hmmm:

Do you have one? Or know of somebody that could upload a picture of the rubber cover?

Really? I see it pretty much the same as your color scheme... well yeah, if the buttons each have a separate "rubber" I'd take it inside too!

I've been thinking about "making" a rubber for it but I would have to make a positive mold out of wood or something and then apply various coats of liquid silicone or latex like they use to make halloween masks... who knows...

Whenever you get a chance, please take a closer pic at those button rubbers? :smooch:
