I just got an 1980s samsung boombox. Opened it up cleaned it out. But It seems like a bad ground. On am/fm or tape (tape is worse) there is a bad popping or clicking noise. If I touch the am/fm selector it goes away.
Anyone know what I should be looking at/for? Before I opened it, it was doing the same but not as bad.

Could be a bad cap on the power board. It'll hum and pop at times and still work but replacing old caps is a good idea.

It's a constant poping and no radio signal comes through until I touch am/fm selector. I thought possibly a bad ground. I'll have another look at the caps, none were swollen.

So I re-soldered every component even though all looked fine. I also sprayed the switches with contact cleaner. When I put it all back it was working significantly better but still have a faint static/popping on the right channel.
How do I go about identifying bad components or a bad ground? I thought it was the am/fm selector but when I touch and slightly push the board in some areas it goes away... the traces on the board are all pretty thick and there is no corrosion or anything... any suggestions for what I can test? Even have the tape deck disconnected to eliminate that still does it though

Soo I re-re-soldered gave everything a final look then put it all back together. Seems to be working fine. Havnt changed the am/fm selector lol don't want to risk it. For now I will set it up in garage and let it be
