My Lasonic TRC-920 came was a little bit damaged in shipping (didn’t bother me at first) but while looking at this crack I saw a power component came loose and was sticking out of the side. Should I plug it in or take it apart?image.jpg

It might be ok. I would try it on batteries first. The transformer is mounted by itself so it might just be fine.

After a quick disassembly I’ve found most of the damage was the back panel, the only problem with the main case is the aforementioned floating transformer. I’ll see about collecting all the plastic chunks in the box today.

Anyone else with one of these, does the phono input use a pre-amp? It would be strange if it didn’t considering there’s a line in. It requires a lot of volume and it’s lacking bass as if it doesn’t have one.

Phono inputs usually produce way too much bass when connected to modern devices. If it doesn't, it's really a Line In that was falsely labelled Phono.
