What is the best way to remove the old tuner window on a boombox?

I'm having some trouble getting the old one out of the GF-9191 and the GF-303. I'd be afraid to use a heat gun because I don't want to chance melting the case, but if I need a heat gun, I'll just have to do it.

My old trick of soaking in really hot water to loosen the glue is not helping.

Is the tuner glass glued in or is it melted in? I have seem manufacturers melt small areas (probably with a soldering iron). If that's the case, you may need to use a small rotary tool to cut the plastic away.

Any pictures???

Right. Manufacturers mold the acyrlic glass with small pegs, posts, blocks or dowels on the backside. As it protrudes through the case, a flat iron is pressed onto the acrylic flattening it and melting it. I have had good luck removing it with patience and careful cutting, trimming the ironed areas with an exacto knife. If that process is used along with glue -- then it's almost impossible to remove the glass. Hot air gun will likely scorch, distort and melt the glass. It melts at pretty low temperatures. If you can somehow get the glass off the parts box first, then the broken glass can be carefully but away. Maybe. Unfortunately, they aren't really made to be removable.

That's what I was thinking. From the looks of it, the window is just glued in. Maybe if could just get something between the window and the case and get it started, I should be okay. But... Sharp sure isn't making it easy to do. :-/
