it seems that alot of boxes have light scratches. is there any way to remove or buff these? has anyone had any luck?

If it's on the silver part, you're pretty much out of luck. Any kind of polishing might take the paint off. If you're talking about the clear windows, use Novus polish for plastics.

thanks for the reply fatdog. i just scored a red sanyo 3 piece and the front panel has some light scratches over the glossy plastic that stand out in certain light.
i am probably being too fussy with them but i thought i would just check if there is a true and tested method. would the novus product work on sections of the box such as this?

i found some kind of automotive plastics cleaner online which appears to 'fix' light scratches. i will give it a go on a trashed box and report back!

Cool, let us know how that goes.
I have wondered if it is any good even for its intended purpose on motor vehicles
but have never tried.

well i can confidently report that PlastX works wonders on clear plastic! it made the tuner window on this gf555 look almost brand new.
highly recommended!
