As you can see, I had to modify a 5.25" surround. I tried the 4.5" and it was a lousy fit because the foam is glued from behind the cone, and the gap between the cone and basket edge is a bit wide. It's very hard to detect the seam when completely assembled.:
Before and After:
I chose a bright white for the cone color. I did a sample in satin and a sample in flat and the flat just looked soooo good. I may regret it when it needs a cleaning, but I chose form over function. Now that I have proper speakers, this unit sounds awesome. Good bass, but not overpowering. Excellent stereo separation. Nice clean highs.
I highly recomend picking up this or a similar Pioneer unit if you have the oppertunity. I'm lovin' it (Ba da ba ba ba...).
