Recently, within the last 3 weeks there have been a series of medium to large earthquakes here in the southern California area. Last night a 5.1 in La Hambra near Disneyland. Although we haven't felt them here....it still has me nervous. So I thought I would film my collection incase it all end's up in a busted pile on the floor. The only thing not in this video is the J1

there should be exclusive 20 minute heads-up quake warnings for box collectors -
get with fatdog to arrange that.

You have a nice Boom Room...I'd hate to see it messed up...

On the other hand...there would be a sudden flood of parts on the market available to go towards replacements!

In all seriousness, have you had the values considered as part of your insurance package? :hmmm:

Ahhhhhh, dude....that sucks to think about. Yeah, I guess I would have a big parts sale.

As far as insurance, I do not have these radio's insured. In California there is "insurance" and then there is "earthquake insurance" and I'm not sure what it would cost or if I could get my radio's covered for a reasonable cost.

I wish there was a 20 minute warning. I think Japan has a 5-10 second warning. Not enough time to run in there and take them all down.

Here I have a choice, live with all my radio's wrapped in bubble wrap, or display them and roll the dice and hope for the best. There is a thread on this site where a Lasonic L30 fell off a shelf, it was a heartbreaking read.

I don't want to live through it. But I love my boom room.

The only upshot is this...if you can call it that...

Say there is an earthquake...

You're in your Boom Room...you have some Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osbourne...(Tribute to the if not the greatest...Randy Rhoades...)

The earth starts to rumble...

It's over in a flash. The US Geological Survey Team Shows up and says the epicenter is located right under your house.

You look around...your boom room is smashed...and all you can says is "My bad dudes...I had the volume up at eleven in tribute to Spinal Tap."

I have lived my whole life knowing that at any moment the earth might shake and the walls could cave in. It could freak you out if you let it.

Hi Chris, saw thar, padded room for boomers with well, somekind of soft
cushiony floor and well, you need to earthquake proof that room and the
Grails so there's no crackage!! It can be done, make it an all cushiony room
so nothing can get damaged unless the ceiling caves in! There might be
a cure for that to! Acoustic cube sponges everywhere and on ceiling!
I may need to do the same,I live near one of the biggest(New Madrid Fault Line)!!
