:-/ i dont know if you guys disagree but... i thought it would sound better than the M70.. i thought of replacing woofers but this box packs 19 watts..i opened it and it was waaaaay too complicated to take a part and clean it. M70 is just as hard too

One of my faves! Yours looks to be in great shape. Sound isn't as good as an m70 but it's also older. I would expect big sound differences with regards to newer components the m70 used.

i belive the 838 is comparable to the 828

I had never seen that there is green paint in the tips of the throw switches. :w00t: Man, JVC put a lot of attention to detail in the 838. :yes: Way to go, STB! :thumbsup:

I passed on one of those once hoping to find a nicer one
and havent seen one since. Lesson learned i guess.

When I first started collecting one of these in minty condition in it's original box sold for around $200 on ePray. Seems like a pretty good deal now but I was really cheap about what I would pay back then.

Nice find-I just got a 838JW!!
Good luck getting her going-probably the same problem as mine,usually bad sliders.
