Ghettoboom767 has one of these. A few other members might also have one. I would love to hear one of these in person some day.

I also have one and love it, but as my first post I wouldn't be advertising it for sale :-/ :sadno:

I know they don't sound too good - and aren't the best looking Sharps either - but something about that keyboard..... :-D

i've been using one for past 4 years - and it really doesn't sound so bad.
in fact, i would say it compares very well against sharp's gf9292 and gf9494 - the gf990 has good bass and crisp highs playing good CrO2 tape, and similar quality on strong FM stations.
the synthesiser part is great fun too, and i've yet to fully explore its programming/sounds, despite the hefty users' manual that came with it ;-)
... overall, not a bad find in a local thrift shop!

Stop saying things like that - or I might be tempted to get one

Hi-I have 2 of these and I love mine!!
The sound is really clear and has very nice features!
The best thing that I can think about is the fact that it has the most sensitive lin-in I've ever used on a boombox and do these get loud!! :-O Great for Mp3's and I-pods or even your portable DVD player!
At 50watts these put out some srious sound.
The cassettes are quite easy to work on to!
Vlad-go get one,you'll like it!
Have a great week-GB. :-) :agree: :choco: :breakdance:

as a result of this chat, a friend decided to compare his rx-c100 with my gf990, playing back the same chrome cassette... and the gf990 sounded louder without distortion!
... but the rx-c100 had a better sounding (fuller?) bass - but no synthesiser built in :-P
u win some, u lose some :breakdance:

I only want to get a mint one though - and with a working keyboard - so I'll patiently wait if one would pop up for sale somewhere :-)

Fine - I'll try getting one - just found my dream GF-990 on ebay :-D

Well??

Did you buy it? I'm keen to find out how good they are coz they go for quite a bit, so I want some quality sound for the novelty of a little keyboard :-) :-)
