I'm not sure this video is related to "soul oddity"???
The original was produced and animated by Chris Cunningham with music by "aphex twin", it is called "rubber Johnny". You can find it at youtube under "chris cunningham - rubber johnny". view at your own risk, it's disturbing to some.hehe

I'm a big fan of Soul Oddity tone capsule is a great album. Their stuff is way ahead of it's time. Welcome Back to Earth and Freq Shift are my favorites.

Hey thanks man, I have 2 12"s by them, :agree: they were ahead of their time. They were from Miami but performing and hanging out in Detroit a lot. Back in the '90s there were so many electro pirates floating around you could go to any dark club and find someone performing a live 4 turntable set with live electro on the roland 808 & tb 303. There was always something to do Thursday through Sunday. Electro in Miami in '96 wasn't as prominant as some of the other subcutlures, maybe that's why "soul Oddity" frequented The "D".
I think I figured out how they sequence their **** ...in sort of "bits and Pieces" They probably compiled several bleeps and click sequences or rhythms 1st, reserved them, then started with the drum track, later adding bleeps & click sequences in layers. With breakdowns & drop outs in between and some tb 303 on top. Dunno for sure but I love their shitziz.
Where are you located, do you dj or produce electro? I see you on here once in a great while. :-D
It took me a while to find it but this is the other 12" I have by Soul Oddity, this one (It has the "T-Bone" on the cover in blue) and "Welcome Back To Planet Earth"

I do DJ. I've been in love with electro since 84 when I received my first newcleus record.

If you haven't already heard them check out:

Dopplereffekt - Speak and Spell

Drexciya - Astronomical Guidepost

Alpha606 - Anarchy in Cuba

Pollon - Lonely Planet

I also have a mix up on Soundcloud

sweet, soundcloud is dope, I was peepin' the old kiss fm tape splice mixes with the latin rascals on soundcloud or mixcloud...not sure which. I will check this out cool. My name on soundcloud is djstevedub. I'm waiting to get this four tracker running so I can drop some mixes.

haven't heard the pollon or the alpha606 i'll dig into that next.
the others are great.
i like the direct beat recordings, metroplex and any label that was exclusivily electro. I fell in love with it from these tracks
with exception of kraftwerks early pieces...
a number of names-sharevari
cybotron - "cosmic cars" original & "alleys of your mind"
and of course newcleus computer age push the button

I don't have much of new style electro in my collection with exception of everything that was coming out of detroit I live near detroit so I have a lot of detroit electro
cosmo d invites me to these live events on myspace all the time but i don't live in miami so i never go
i'll peep your mix thanks for the link.
my partner in crime is on soundcloud as well peep his mixes we both make collaborative mixes at his crib so some of his stuff dpending on which mixtape it is I may or may not have particepated on

this was a mix bullfrog made 6 years ago when I had the studio in the back room of the B Boy Boutique, he used a bunch of records from the collection over there. It's classic electro but fun if you like electro
