This is considered to be one of the first "Miami Bass" records. It was released back in 1985-(post electro)

:hmmm: :hmmm:
This is a very striking occurence - "Mantronix" released "Needle To The Groove" in the same year and the programming on the "Roland TR-808" in both "The Mantronix" & "The Double Duce" recordings are nearly alike in some phrases.

Who's was released first?

My guess is Mantronix as he released a full length LP called "THE ALBUM" later that year and this "Needle To The Groove-12" was release beofore the LP...Dunno for sure who's was first, they are similar however...THE GIVEAWAY IS THE BASSLINE IN BOTH RECORDS...it sounds like they had the same basslines & abrupt crescendos. The string strikes are similar as well.. (one is tweaked lower than the other)...
...uh!!! :annoyed: Who's was first?

I wasn't a teenager until the 90's, but boy did I get into this stuff then.

I think the best example of where this music has progressed to today, is Dj Infiniti's album "Looking for Something." (okay, so maybe that album is almost 10 years old now, but still)

Truly incredible bass on there. Not trancey, like so much electronic stuff - It builds on the groundwork of 80s Miami Bass, developing it further in complexity and depth, without defiling the vibe. Somehow, the album manages to be both fun and sinister at the same time.

This is the first track on there, starting us off easy, and it works as a massive mix album, because it is incredibly cool and huge-sounding by the end of the album. One of those CDs I'm happy to have paid import shipping for (it seems to be more easily available today, possibly because Infiniti has gained popularity with newer stuff that I don't find as cool).
