We had a self described Jazz radio station that's been here in town for decades. They played a lot more than the popular Jazz, they played New Age, Soft rock, etc. plus some really cool tunes nobody else ever played from Musical StarStreams and a few other shows that centered on mostly instrumental sounds. I loved this station for being unique and thanked them for not playing the same songs a dozen other stations battle each other with.

Well all that changed this last Wednesday without warning. When I tuned the radio to that station on Wednesday I was greeted with music that shouldn't have been on the station, the same music I can hear on a dozen other stations. After I listened for a bit they came on and asked for support during their transition period, WHAT  . Damn now the only unique and cool station in town is playing the same rock tunes everybody else is, I suspect the bean counter executives saw the other stations making more money or courting a bigger audience and thought it would be a good idea to become one of them.

Just my rant for my own release but damn why does everybody have to always play follow the leader? I know it's comes down to nothing more than money, money drives everything and everybody and typically is the only focus of these arrogant pencil necked Goobers in suits that jump from company to company changing everything with their own wonderful ideas.

That's why I listen to internet radio through my boxes, the selection is limitless, plus I get shitty reception where I live anyhow...
seems like the tuner may be more "obsolete" than the deck...(depending on your cassette collection :-) )

That's what I told them in the feedback page they have up. I told them thanks to their switch for unique to cookie cutter radio I would have to start using the Internet for my radio.
For Rock tunes from soft to hard, etc. I can listen to any station on the radio since they are all pretty much the same now. Jack FM is pretty much the only cool station we have now since they play a great variety of tunes from my youth.

That does suck. We had an alt. rock station 106.5FM the Zone in Toledo for years and they switched to ESPN talk radio, which is cool, but they left a huge gap in programing nobody was playing this kind of music in town. The closest was 88.7fm aka 89x out of Windsor/Detroit, but they've been playing too much emo latley. Good news is they are bringing it back after a year or so. but on a different signal. 100.9fm

Another thing I cant stand is when the cancel shows that you like to listen to. I used to listen to 3 shows in particular from Detroit. on Sundays. The Reggae Sond Blast with OC Roberts, Music of the World with Ishmael(mostly reggae run off, afro beat, and sometimes crazy world joints.) ,and Ozzy Rivera and the Caribean Sarinade(Salsa, Merengue). This was a 6 hour block of music on WDTR 90.9fm. They droped all programing and only played classical. :annoyed:

If you like shows try to record them!

Fortunately one of the shows they had, Musical StarStreams, came from another city and I can get to it on the Internet. The lack of variety that this created in my town is what bugs me, there is no other station in town that plays much of what this station did.

All things eventually change and there's nothing I can do about it I just had to vent to feel better. ;-)
