Radio only works when play button is depressed?!?!!?

Strange, I know....but i have a boombox that the radio will only work if the 'play' button is pressed on the cassette deck.

Anyone ever had this situation or know how to fix?

Make and model?

I'd be looking at the Line In switch, if it has one...., or possibly, radio/tape switch, depends on the make and model.

Make sure your sleep mode is turned to off position. 2nd from left switch

Maybe my sleep mode switch is stuck 'off'. cause it doesn't seem to effect anything.

Could be a dirty switch. Try switching the sleep mode switch back and forth while in radio mode with volume up a little. Look and listen for any lights or sound when you switch to off position( up)
