Is not a real boombox -- only an artists conceptual depiction of a boombox. It might be based on a real boombox (e.g. Superscope). But, IMO, those are hardly boomboxes. They're more portable AM/FM Cassette Recorders. Boomboxes are portable AM/FM Cassette Recorders too but bigger and louder. Boomboxes are flashy with lights and predominant speakers. Boomboxes were used to DJ and breakdance and throw street parties when lugging around studio sized equipment wasn't an option.

Not a boombox, true that's possible. The definition Sounds like your personal feelings towards boomboxes that you admit to but that's certainly okay.

Here is part of the defiinition of a boombox and neither size nor flashiness is one of the things that define a boombox. :nonono:

Technically a Boombox is, at its simplest, two or more loudspeakers, an amplifier, a radio tuner, and a cassette and/or CD player component, all housed in a single plastic or metal case, often with a handle for portability. Most units can be powered by AC or DC cables, as well as batteries.

Truth, that was my personal feelings towards boomboxes. That's why I said "IMO." Who came up with that "definition" of a boombox anyway? "Technically" my Grundig Concert Boy would fit that description but I don't consider it a boombox.

Like most definitions we don't know who came up with it and in the case of boomboxes I'm sure there are some devices that fit the definition that none of us would consider a boombox. The quick definition that's been floated here is a self contained device with Speakers, Amp, Radio/Stereo, Cassette deck, a handle and runs on batteries although some newer boomboxes don't have cassette decks.
