Hey just a quick question but on the mid 80s dual cassette Panasonic boomboxes (RX-FW series), can anyone tell me if the tape is supposed to trigger “Auto Stop” at the end of Rewind or Fast Forward cycle?
I recently re belted my RX-FW18, and when it gets to the end of FF or RR, the tape reel stops, but it sounds like the motor keeps going and I can hear a slight ‘squealing’ sound. Not sure if this is normal? Mainly just concerned for the motor or belts.
I’ve also tried running the Rewing with the door open and no cassette, then seeing if I can trigger the right reel to stop with a little pressure from my pointer finger and nothing doing there either, it just keeps going.
The tape DOES “Auto Stop” at the end of Side A or B when in normal Playback mode, just not FF or RW.
