Does the line-in work well with mp3 players for you guys? I'm in the middle of restoreing one and the radio sounds great, the tape player is slow but sounds good and the line-up sounds jacked up. I know some boxes don't lend themselves well to mp3 players, just wondering is this one of them.

You need to use both the right and left 3.5mm input jacks. Make sure you are also plugged into the correct holes.

Mine works perfect but the key is to have the correct Y- cable going into the inputs. You y-splitter has to have 2 monos that lead to 1 stereo. All need to be 3.5. Internally the Rising is wired to work this way. If you use a Y-cable that has stereos in every end it will not sound right especially when you have your Rising on the stereo function. It took me two weeks and a lot of trips to my local electronics store to figure this out.

I tried using an rca input like that too but didn't have much success. Get yourself some 3.5 all around cables and you will get the results you are looking for.

No that isn't! You needs cable that has 3.5 connections on every end. This is what you need:

I also have the one justcruisn posted and it works ok. It has a sleeker design but the connection is better with the Y cable i think.

So what kind of connection is that and where do you get it?

That plug I got came in a package of different connectors from the dollar store.. It's kind of a right-angle connector, dual male pin to female input for an AUX cord..

I bought the y cable from radioshack and the block connector from china on epay.

Is this one of those boxes that has 3.5mm inputs instead of RCA inputs? That's why I was confused.

Are they phono inputs, aux inputs, or mic inputs?

Perfect breakdown Blu!!!! Dude - this makes so much sense now and has saved me a lot of time. I know there are many other folks who don't know this because I've seen boxes sold on Ebay and the seller will say "This box wasn't made for mp3 players" when in reality - they were just using the wrong outputs and cables.........

you learn something new everyday......

They are in fact AUX inputs and the L and R jacks are MONO 3.5mm - 1/8". So you need to convert your MP3 stereo output into separate L and R mono inputs.
