Hi
was wondering if a different cd player can be hooked up inside a boombox
and hooked to the original display & buttons. like use a portable cd player & take it apart
& put it inside hook it to power & audio & then solder wires to the buttons & display

Good thought.
Try to get a CD player with the same configuration of buttons and same size display. I see a chance of success.

What model is your box?
many boxes use the same player
and parts can be exchanged.

Would be difficult to find parts for this CD player
You need to find a good CD repair guy for this.
Probably a minor problem anyways.

does it turn on ?
does the cd spin ?

To original dispaly and buttons makes it difficult. (use it or lose it) :-D :w00t:

That is so greedy ...

I would keep it outside and use line in. Be nice and be safe! :w00t:

Never try to blend old and new they will really stand out!

If nothing happens than it might be a bad connection
or a small fuse.
So your loosing power somewhere.

Check the connectors.
Or might be back on the power supply board
a regulator might be bad.

Agreeing with the above and also, it's generally a good thing when a fault is absolute in its nature as far & away the most difficult to hunt down are those faults which cause something to fail slightly but not altogether. When stuff just doesn't power up, then the PSU and/or on/off switch is/are always the first place/s to check for a failing connection. Of course, it could still have a less straightforward cause, but let us not think about that just yet.

If you should find that the CD player is unviable for repair, then would one from an equivalent Sanyo model perhaps be easier to source than a Fisher aka? :-)
