Daughter and I returning from the grocery store, Pink Floyd started playing on the radio (she's not familiar with). Instead of unloading groceries, she demanded we stay in the car and listen to the end, no problem. She then, out of blue, stated she wished if she had something to play tapes on. I have an old dual well Sony and gave it to her along with a handful of tapes. One tape was the the PF album we were listening to in the driveway. Instead of having earphones and gaming in her room she has been listening to tapes, even calling her friends and asking what they want to listen to.
Well the Sony started to exhibit wow/flutter, so I took it back, tore it apart and ordered belts. In the meantime I transferred the Lasonic 931 to her room. What's funny is she's intimidated by it, hasn't used it yet. I asked why and she stated she's afraid to break something. I told her, everything is fixable, have a ball. I also told her that every tape she has (50 or so) is a double or triple. She was afraid of eaten tapes and such, I said they're there to play and don't sound good just sitting in a rack. I have 1000+ tapes and none would bother me if they didn't exist.
BTW, this is the girl that at age 3 got the most enjoyment out of resetting the tape counter while tapes were playing. It was like Christmas every time tapes were played.
