Until I re-belt the Amsen, I've decided to use the tape compartment to store my iPod. To connect the cable from the iPod to the AUX jacks, I've decide to print a replacement cover that has a cord opening rather than hack the OEM one.
Due to the maximum print size of my printer, I'm printing it in three sections with the separations on the latches.
Here's my first test:

Close but... I didn't get the latch angle quite right, so it doesn't close as securely as it should. That's what prototyping and iterative design is all about, so back to the drawing board...
