I came by a beater RX-5100F, it has piles of dirt in the bottom of casing both front and especially rear, possibly it was sitting on the ground or really dirty floor for some time. I did bath and the dirt still comes out...
Would it hurt to pressure wash it at a low pressure settings or it's too much for 38 YO plastic?

I pressure wash all kinds of **** all the time all. Can say us scrub it by hand because if you **** up once with the pressure washer it'll destroy that thing.
The pressure alone is enough to send it airborne.

I gave it a try on something almost worthless. The results are amazing - fine detailing without using boxes of cotton swabs, paper towels etc.
Water reaches everywhere so for example the rear panel grille becomes nice and clean. It's impossible to clean it like that with still water. I used outside gas-powered pressure washer with white lowest pressure nozzle called "40 degrees".
Downsides - need to hold the parts so they won't fly away, apparently any paper stickers (such as s/n label, yellow sticker behind the cassette window) will be gone unless you'd avoid those areas. Also take it easy on Nickel-plated plastic parts.

I would maybe try a steam cleaner, have one of those but never tried it on a boombox. Of course the high heat may be bad for the plastics. For knobs I use a small ultrasonic cleaner, I fill it with hot water and basic dish washing liquid (for hand washing). A bigger version would be killer, but they cost thousands... :D
