I'm restoring a vz2000 that had a broken power sw. I got another (original) and did a test fitting of the case without the turntable. For some reason the power knob does not contact the switch until it's almost through the top of the unit.
In other words there appears to be too much of a space between the knob end and the sw.

Am I missing something?

The knob does not appear to be damaged and the switch is an original

Is it possible that there is rubber normally glued to the button arm? And it contacts the switch?

should be direct contact with no padding .

the bottom of the on/off swtich (the one you press) looks a little bit short to me, but it maybe the angle of the photo. Check the mounting plate where the switch sits in. Its a piece of spring steel/tin and can bend quite easily, its held on with two screws but you would have to take the VZ apart again to get to it. On the front of the mounting plate is a thin bit of steel that runs on the back of the on/off switch, this acts as a spring to lift the on/off switch back up, so it stays in postiion even it the unit is on or off, the springyness soon fades after a lot of use and the switch sags down a little, just bend it forward to make contact with the back of the on/off switch, dont go mad with it....... You will see what im on about when you take it apart.

the only other thing i can think of, is the pins that pivot the on/off switch, (these are under the mounting plate) which fit into two grooves in the chasis, have been broken in the past and someone has repared it and fixed the pins to low, one of my VZ`s was like it and that makes the on/off switch look as if its going to dissapear into the body.......i refited some hand made pins higher and its ok now

I have some photos on this forum somewhere......
