make sure you know which one as there are different styles especially the figure 8 which fits on boxes with that same shape ,,other cord will not work on those if you have a square one that works with most boxes except some of the sony boxes that use a plug simular to the norelco shaver plug which btw works on those sonys with that tpye of plugs,,and remember there are tabs inside also that works a switch to activate the batteries ,,once unplugged the box will work with batties , but i have seen some boxes that even with the right plug it would not work but yet chaning a different cord it worked ,, so you have to make sure while looking at it to see which one you will need..... :-) :-)

As far as I know, there are four basic shapes to the plugs:

1) Full rectangular with squared-off corners

2) One end with rounded corners - other end with squared-off corners

3) All corners rounded - looks like an oval

4) All corners rounded with notches in the middle - looks like the number '8'

You will need to check the female plug on the boombox to know which one you need. However, the #4 plug above should fit almost every boombox.

So here's the latest... I glued the broken knob down(still works fine), fixed the eject, can hear the motor running (and waiting for the belt for cassette to arrive) but when I play a tape adapter, which should work even if the tape doesn't spin, still no sound. Line in , no sound either. Line out, I get very low , poor quality sound. Earlier I did get sound through the line in but it was also poor quality, cutting in and out if I adjusted the volume? I also am questioning the power cord I got with the unit, could a wrong power cord cause weird complications? I will post a picture of my cord and hopefully someone can tell me theirs looks the same. I did however try the unit with batteries, and didn't get any better results but did notice when I tried the tape the power light seemed to be brighter than when I used the power cord ( but, only just slightly).

On a different note ,I should have a extra belt for the cassette Coming for the D8443 if anyone wants to trade for a belt for the counter(which I can't seem to find). Or if someone just wants to buy I'll sell it for a few bucks once my box is fully functioning. What do you guys think of the counter? Is it noisy?, Is it essential? I'd just like my box to be fully restored if possible.

I've discovered it's not essential to unsolder boards to get to the ones underneath, as long as they are all unscrewed it is possible to just move them out of the way.

MUTO: Consider me a dummy, what contacts, where are they located and what's a potentiometer?Nice bluetooth conversion, I wish I knew how to do that?

Thanks for all the help guys, it's nice to have people trying to help how they can

i was just wondering if anyone knew specifally what the magd8443 used cuz the box is being shipped & i just wanted to time up the cord on its way too.

also i wasnt sure if i had to pay attention to "7A" vs say.... a "10A"

From my understanding, if your boombox requires 3A, then a power cord with the same, or higher, amp rating will work. Naturally, you wouldn't want to use a 2A power cord on a 3A boombox. I'm sure someone else might know more about that than me.

Usually im not concerned about the cords at all. Every type is really easy fix to work with another type of female config of the boomer. Even those with battery switch need some small peace of plastic stuck with duct tape on the side of the cord to push the switch properly. Another can be cut and so on..... So enjoy your new boomer  . And the most strange one - i bet you have some old shaver or so to steal the cord if needed  .
