This is a very good question. I have seen the "Rechargeable" sticker on the face of these radios, but never understood if they sold a special battery, or if you simply put rechargeable batteries (of the time period) in there. Would the system work with modern rechargeables?
If so , the 80 were the nicad era so i'm not that todays batteries will do
