phono inputs

I am a new member rediscovering boombox joy after many years (had a sweet aiwa mom threw away and a panasonic an ex stole........). Anyway, I'd like to get a vintage box with a dedicated phono input. Two questions:

1. Any recommendations for a model I have a good shot at finding? Aesthetics and sound quality are more important to me than power.

2. Anything condition-wise to be particularly concerned about with boxes with phono inputs?

Any help appreciated!

If you get a box that has a switch to select between Phono and Line for the aux input, chances are it will accept a magnetic cartridge. Better yet, try to get a box that has both inputs on board.
