These aren't too bad at all, though build quality is a bit shite. I heard one at T&J Hughes when I was doing my Christmas present shopping last month and it sounded surprisingly good.
But... These cost only £59.99 here in the UK, split new, so why anyone would give that much for it I can't work out?

Very modern looking. With a simulated tape deck style dock. But I'll pass. I've already taught my soon to be 2 year old son how to press eject, put a cassette tape in the tape deck (correctly) and close it back up. It was so cool seeing this little version of myself, master the old school cassette deck at such a young age :-) To me that was just priceless. Keep the old school alive!

Too right! But suppose the buying brief is to get something that does the same job as a Zeppelin dock, costs a tenth as much and sounds every bit as good... ;-)

(eBay is awash with JVC656s, buy one of those).

could be a lot of use if some body just tore the guts out these high tech junk heaps and stuff the guts into some old beat up box that just has no use otherwise. that could apply to half my collection lol.

Me too, in the sense that a good FLAC or ALAC (lossless) file played through any one of my lovely old boxes is far more satisfying to my ears than the same music played on one of these new devices, but the Philips, even though they're a bit "plasticky" compared to, say, an '80s Panasonic or JVC product, is amazing for its price. Dammit! Why am I trying to convince myself to buy one?

I prefer your chainsaw repairs over all this new stuff, this Phillips looks ok, but like SLO said, I prefer the comfort of my 80's radio's along with a snug straight jacket and a soft room. :-D  :-P
