Got a Philips D 7100 for $1 today.

It's a nice looking Philips mini boombox.

It has:
-a cassette deck
-AM/FM radio
-runs on 220v mains or C batteries (will run fine on 230V as used in Australia )

Just needs some repairs to be done-the radio section mostly.

Although I could get it work to work-there was a loud noise coming from it, even when pressing the tape buttons, so in the end I'm going to disassemble it and keep any parts that might be useful from it.

:nonono: Not so fast!

Did you any try to clean/demagnetize the heads?
Had the same problem at a PHILIPS.
Also take a good clean of the main switch.
This may fail sometimes.

After a good cleaning mine was working again! ;-)

btw: own the same in choco-grey :-)

I was going to do that-but finding tape cleaners or demagnitizers in Australia can be tricky.

Also tried running off batteries-didn't work and 230V mains (made the loud annoying sound).

In the end, I had to part with it.

1. Best would be isopropanol and a solid piece of cloth.
Or if you can´t get some spiritus. ;-)

2. Clean the little swich inside the plug for the powercable. :hmmm:

3. :'-(
