Panasonic RX-DT75 remote not working

I recently acquired a Panasonic 'Cobratop' RX-DT75 that is in great condition and works - as far as I can see so far - excellently and fully using its own built in controls. However its remote RAK-RX135WH that came with it does not appear to operate any functions of the player (batteries new, cavity nice and clean etc). I have tried the 'camera trick' whereby you put your mobile phone into camera mode and pointing the remote at the camera's lens, press buttons on the remote and you can see flashes being emitted from the remote. So on the face of it, it would appear that the remote is working, but saying that, I'm told that it can do that and still not be working properly. So that's where I'm at. Any ideas please?

Might be the wrong remote? Sounds like it's the receiver in the box.

As I said, the remote is the RAK-RX135WH which is the one that came with the player, and is is verified as being the correct one. Otherwise, yes, it's either the remote or the sensor! From my tests is looking more likely that it's the sensor and I'm hoping that someone has some experience of dealing with a faulty sensor.
