Hello everyone, new here!

Recently, I got the 2nd RX-DT680 as I love the model so much! Now, the left is 1992 and the right is 1993. The 92 model I got it repaired few years ago which includes new motor to change tracks on CD and rebuild cassette with new belts and gear replacement!

During testing CD test, both can play regular CD no problem from official album. Now, the burned CD-R however it really depends if it can read or not.
The 92 as I've played both CD-R works fine, no problem. The 93, only one of two can play the CD-R. The same issue I played on DT690, it does play but unable to move the track properly!

So, I'm curious if the CD circuit board, like the capacitors will have to be replace it as the optical is getting weaker on the 1993 DT680?

Also, I've observed the quality changes as the 93-94 have reduced from best. Black gears on cassette door rather the white ones on 91-92. Cassette motor also changed!

BTW, those white bags are for me to store the AC cord and remote control! :)

It's the whole pickup assembly your lucky it still works. All you can do is lube all moving parts and clean the lens.

To me, this was what "a boombox looks like." Growing up in boarding school (Africa) in the mid/ late 80s this was the look that we went after for the most part; detachable speakers, twin cassette decks, high speed dubbing. The more thumpiful it was the better.

Your pics are making me want to buy one but I already have the late 80s/ early 90s boxes that I want.

Nice collection.

I guess the condition of the optical really depends how strong it can still read! Also depending how much do you use! The 93 was a slower than the 92.
