I have the opportunity to pick up a Panny 680 on the cheap, in 100% working order, and in excellent physical condition with a remote. I have seen one but never heard one. Looking for info from owners of this box. Which class would you place it in or what would it compare to?? How does it sound? I am going to pick it up tomorrow so any and all info is appreciated.

Melly it's brilliant for example it will sound much better than the m70, deep warm bass it's one of the best sounding boomers out there. :-)

...GOT IT...man this thing is LOUD and the sound is excellent. Will clean it up a bit and post pics. It came with everything..remote, owners manual and physically it is excellent. Still has the original sticker on the tape deck. No line input though so I have to see if I can plug the mp3 into the mic inlet. I will give my full impression of this boomer after I clean her...

and you can plug your mp3 into a cassette adaptor -- right ???

Take a data disc (like an old Windows 2000 disc) and start the CD. With your mp3 player plugged in the CD out, start the mp3 player and voila!!! It will play as long as the time shows for the data disc!!!

Just use an fm transmitter :-)
I plugged into the mic input and pushed the record button while on tape function and it seems to play well. I will try the other way as well and see which sounds best. This thing sounds more like a shelf system...seems unfair to compare it to a boombox...it is very powerful...the remote is HUGE...it cleaned up very nicely...I think I will paint the speaker rings gold to match the tweeters cause it needs some color!
